The house has Gulf views from 2 Gulf facing balconies and it sits very close to the water, but it is not beachfront. You walk about 300 steps over the dune and you are on the sand.
The beach at this end of Cape San Blas is wide, white, and uncrowded, and dogs are allowed on it with a leash law in effect. 12 beach chairs, a wagon, a cooler, beach towels, and an ottoman filled with beach toys are here for you, so nothing needs to be packed or rented. A Pack n Play and a high chair are provided free all year.
St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and T.H. Stone Memorial Park sit right next door, with 10 miles of undeveloped shoreline, hiking, a boat launch, and the paved Loggerhead Trail for a flat family bike ride. You can also walk into the park along the beach.
Scallop Cove, for kayak and bike rentals and ice cream, is a 5 minute drive. Cape San Blas Lighthouse is about a 20 minute drive. Port St. Joe, with restaurants and the grocery store, is 15 to 20 miles away, a drive of about 15 to 20 minutes down Cape San Blas Road. Apalachicola and its oyster bars are about 30 minutes east.
Getting here: Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in the Panama City Beach area is the closest, about 1 hour 30 minutes. A car is required, rideshare is very limited, and cell signal can fade toward the end of the cape, so download offline maps before you leave the highway.
